Description
The WEN DF400iX has a 120V output and great power and versatility thanks to its dual-fuel technology. If it is powered by gasoline, the device has a running power of 3,200W and a starting power of 4,000W. If it runs on propane, it has a rated power of 2900 watts and a starting power of 3200 watts. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), this power can be increased by connecting it to another unit that works with it. With WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology, the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) is chosen automatically based on availability, with LPG being given priority. So, if the generator is hooked up to a propane tank with enough LPG, the generator will automatically use LPG. If there is no propane tank attached or not enough LPG in the tank, the generator will use gasoline. The noise level of the inverter generator is 58 dBA, which is quieter than rain. It has a simple pull-start mechanism and a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). With a fuel tank of 2.2 gallons, the DF400iX can run for about 8.5 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.26 GPH). If you use propane instead, it can run for about 9 hours on a 20-pound tank (propane uses about 0.52 GPH). The DF400iX makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 1.2%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet.
It also has 3 DC outlets: a 12V 8A receptacle (like a cigarette lighter), which makes it easy to charge your batteries, and two 5V USB ports (USB-A), which make it easy to charge things like cell phones and tablets. This WEN generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug.TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.Features
The DF400iX’s control panel has a digital data center that provides information on the voltage, lifetime run hours, fuel level, power output, and frequency to assist you keep tabs on the machine’s status and activities.
The featured light indicators will also alert you when the generator is ready, when it is overloading, and when the oil level is too low.The DF400iX can burn up all the fuel left in the carburetor before turning off on its own thanks to the fuel shutdown mechanism, which stops the flow of fuel. This reduces maintenance requirements while extending the life of the carburetor by preventing build-up and obstructions brought on by stagnant gasoline. You can use the gadget with confidence because to its security features, which include an automated low oil shut-off and overload protection (circuit breaker). The WEN CO Watchdog carbon monoxide detecting system is also advantageous to the device. The accumulation of harmful CO gas is monitored by this device when the generator is running. The generator will be automatically turned off by the CO Watchdog system if the CO gas level rises too much.Although it’s a wonderful bonus to security, make sure to always move your generator outside. The WEN DF400iX also includes a tool kit, a propane hose, and a funnel in addition to the standard paperwork and owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly. As a supplementary purchase, an official storage cover is additionally offered.Mobility
The WEN DF400iX looks better than a typical open frame generator because it has a closed inverter generator (L23.2 x W18 x H20.1 in).
The generator has a modern look and is easy to use when generating power for fun.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 100 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools. But the lack of maneuverability is made up for by its two wheels and folding handle, which make it easy to move once it’s on the ground.Product Videos

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951.
WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators.WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.Warranty Information
The WEN DF400iX has a warranty that lasts up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out WEN’s warranty policies to learn more about the warranty on their generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-847-429-9263.
