The Pulsar PG13000BRCO is powerful and flexible, thanks to its dual-fuel technology that lets it run on both 120V and 240V. When it is run by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 10,200W and a peak wattage of 13,000. When powered by propane, it has a rated 9200 watts and a peak of 11500 watts. With Pulsar’s patented Switch & Go technology, you can switch from propane to gasoline or from gasoline to propane while the generator is running. The generator can make up to 81 dBA of noise (just slightly more noisy than an alarm clock). It has both a simple pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use and convenient (battery included). To make things even easier, the PG13000BRCO can be turned on from a distance (key fob included). With a fuel capacity of 9.5 gallons, the PG13000BRCO can run for about 9.5 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 1 GPH). It can run for about 3.5 hours if you use propane (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 1.34 GPH).
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle are all on the control panel. It also has 1 DC outlet with a 12V 8A output that makes it easy to charge your batteries. This Pulsar generator isn’t quite RV-ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to hook it up to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter. The PG13000BRCO is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
The PG13000BRCO’s control panel has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours so you can keep an eye on its status and activity. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. As for safety features, the device has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The unit also works well because Pulsar’s CO Sentry can detect carbon monoxide. The sensor checks to see if poisonous carbon monoxide gas is building up around the generator, and if it is, it turns off the engine. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times.Along with the basic paperwork and an owner’s manual, which can be used right away to start the generator, the Pulsar PG13000BRCO comes with a key fob and a propane hose.
The standard, open frame design of the Pulsar PG13000BRCO, which is L30.8 x W29.2 x H26.5 in, gives the generator stability and lets it be raised above ground level. The design works well in rough places and for hard outdoor use.The generator is technically “portable” in the sense that you can move it, but at 231 pounds, it may be hard to move it by hand.Once it’s on the ground, though, its wheel kit (dia:12 “), and its folding handle can easily fix the problem of limited mobility and make the device easy to move.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Pulsar is a registered brand name for Pulsar Products Inc., which is based in California, USA.The company has a good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and, of course, generators. The generators range from 1.2 kW to 10 kW and come in dual fuel and RV-Ready models.Pulsar has a number of locations in the US, including two distribution centers, one in California and the other in Illinois. But it looks like their products are made in Asia, which is far away from where they are sold.
There is a warranty on the Pulsar PG13000BRCO for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
