Description
With its powerful and flexible dual-fuel technology, the Cummins Onan P9500df can put out either 120V or 240V. Even though it runs on gasoline, it has a running wattage of 7,500W and a peak wattage of 9,500W. It runs on propane and has a rated power of 6750 watts and a starting power of 8550 watts. This generator has a noise level of 74 dBA, which is just a little louder than a shower. It can be started with a pull-start, but it also has an electric starter that is easy to use (battery included). For even more convenience, you can also start the Onan P9500df from a distance (key fob included). With a fuel capacity of 6.6 gallons, the Onan P9500df can run for up to 16 hours on a full tank of gas (fuel consumption is approximately 0.6 GPH). It can last up to 8 hours if you use propane (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.59 GPH). The Onan P9500df can’t power sensitive electronics because its THD is quite high (about 23%).
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are among the 5 AC outlets on the control panel.
The Onan P9500df is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.Features
On the control panel of the Onan P9500df, there is a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours.
This helps you keep track of the generator’s status and activity. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). The Cummins Onan P9500df comes with standard paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you start the device quickly. It also comes with a propane hose, funnel, oil, tool kit, key fob, and battery charger.Mobility
The Cummins Onan P9500df has a standard, open frame that measures L27.3 x W26.3 x H26.3 in, This frame gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground.
This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use.The generator weighs 194 pounds, so it may be hard to move or transport it by hand, even though it is technically considered “portable” (movable). It is hard to move around, but its wheel kit (dia:10) makes it possible “Once it’s on the floor, it will be easier to move because of the handle that folds down.Product Videos

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A Fortune 500 company listed on the NYSE, Cummins operates in the heavy industries and power sectors.
William Glanton Irwin and Clessie Cummings established Cummins in 1919 with an emphasis on the creation of diesel engines. However, the company didn’t really take off until after World War II, when new roads were built across the country, and it finally went global in the 1960s with the help of its heavy-duty trucks. From genuine power plants to RV generators, Cummins has provided a wide range of power solutions over the years. However, the business has only recently dabbled in the portable generator industry.Currently, the firm sells a limited number of conventional and inverter generators under the Onan product line, which was formerly known as the Cummins Onan brand.Warranty Information
A warranty covers the Cummins Onan P9500df for up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Cummins Customer Support can be reached at 1-800-CUMMINS if you have questions about the warranty on a Cummins generator (800-286-6467).
