The gasoline-powered 420 cc OHV 4-stroke engine is the heart of the Champion 100520. It has a 120/240V output and a running power of 7,000W and a peak power of 8,750W. This inverter generator has a noise level of 72 dBA, which is just a little louder than a vacuum cleaner. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). The 100520 can run for up to 10.5 hours on a full tank. It uses about 0.4 GPH of fuel per hour, so it can run for that long. The 100520 makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of less than 3%, so you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets (THD).
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplex outlets and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are on the control panel. It also has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A plug that looks like a cigarette lighter so you can easily charge your batteries.Since the unit comes with a dual port USB adapter, you can also use the DC receptacle to easily charge devices like cell phones and tablets. The 100520 has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which means it is ready for a transfer switch. It is easy to connect to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.
The Intelligauge meter on the 100520’s control panel makes it easy to check on its status and activity. It shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. In addition to this, the generator has a number of lights that tell you when it is overloaded, when the oil level is too low, and when it is ready. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge, which makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. The Champion 100520 comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you use it right away.It also comes with a dual port USB adapter, battery charging cables, and a funnel. You can also buy the official storage cover and running cover on their own.
The Champion 100520 is 26.6 inches long, 25.6 inches wide, and 23.7 inches high.Together with its traditional, open-frame design, they support the generator and allow it to be raised above the ground. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 149 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools.Still, once it’s on the ground, its set of wheels (dia:8 “), and its folding handle can easily fix the problem of limited mobility and make the device easy to move.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Champion-100520 compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A US-based producer of power equipment, Champion Power Equipment was established in 2003.The comparatively tiny business has established a name for itself in the portable generator market as well as the larger power equipment market, with a concentration on heavy duty machinery like log cutters, snow blowers, chipper shredders, etc.Their whole product line is American-engineered.The corporation does not, however, disclose the country of origin of its parts.
There is a warranty on the Champion 100520 for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Champion’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Champion generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-877-338-0999.
