The Champion 200929 is made with a 500 cc OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline. It has an output voltage of 120/240V and a running wattage of 9,500W and a peak wattage of 12,000. The generator has a noise level of 74 dBA, which is just a little louder than a dishwasher. It has a simple pull-start mechanism as well as an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). To make things even easier, the 200929 can be turned on from a distance (key fob included). With a full tank, the 200929 can run for about 8 hours at 0.5 load, which is about 0.96 GPH (gallon per hour), because it can hold 7.7 gallons of fuel. Since the 200929 has a THD of about 20%, it is best not to use it to power devices that are sensitive to noise.
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle are all on the control panel.Since it has a 14-50R outlet, this Champion unit is ready for use with an RV with a 50-amp service. In addition, due to the featured twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, the 200929 is transfer switch ready: you may connect it to a breaker box to power your household during a power outage.
The 200929’s control panel has an Intelligauge meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. This makes it easier to keep track of its status and activity. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it.As for safety features, the device has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry.Volt GuardTM, which is built into Champion, protects your equipment and appliances from voltage spikes. The unit also has CO ShieldTM technology, which keeps an eye on the amount of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas that builds up in the generator when the engine is running.CO ShieldTM automatically turns off the engine and lights up a red LED if it finds high levels of CO gas. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times.Along with the basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you get the generator going right away, the Champion 200929 comes with a key fob, a funnel, and oil.
The Champion 200929 is 28.8 inches long, 27.4 inches wide, and 25.8 inches high.It has a typical open frame design that makes it stable and allows it to be raised above ground level. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors.Even though the generator is technically considered to “be portable,” it will be very hard to move it by hand because it weighs 206 pounds (in the sense that it is movable).Still, its wheel kit (dia:9.5) makes it easy to move “) and its handle that folds up, once it’s on the ground.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Champion-200929 compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Champion Power Equipment is an American company that has been making power tools since 2003.The small company has made a name for itself in the portable generator business and in the power equipment business in general, with a focus on heavy duty equipment like log cutters, snow blowers, chipper shredders, etc.Every one of their products is made in the US.But the company does not say anything about where their parts come from.
There is a warranty on the Champion 200929 for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Champion’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Champion generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-877-338-0999.
