The gasoline-powered 212 cc OHV 4-stroke engine is the heart of the Champion 200990. It has a 120V output and a running power of 3,500W and a peak power of 4,500W. Also, because it can work in parallel (ParaLink is not included), its power can be increased by connecting it to a second unit that works with it. This inverter generator has a noise level of 61 dBA, which is just a little louder than background music. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). The EZ Start Dial on Champion makes it easy to start the engine and get to all the controls you need. The 200990 can also be started from a distance, which makes it even more convenient (key fob included). The 200990 can run for up to 14 hours on a full tank of 2.3 gallons of gas (fuel consumption is approximately 0.16 GPH). The 200990 makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet. In addition, it has two DC outlets and two 5V USB ports, which make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. The TT-30R plug on this Champion generator is ready for an RV.TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
The 200990’s status and activity may be monitored conveniently via the control panel, as it features an Intelligauge meter , which displays voltage, frequency and lifetime hours. In addition to this information, there are some lights that let you know right away if the oil level is too low, if the generator is ready, or if it is overloaded. The inverter generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it easy and quick to check the fuel level. From a safety point of view, the product has a circuit breaker for overload protection and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry.Along with basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you get the generator going right away, the Champion 200990 comes with oil, a funnel, a tool kit, and a key fob.
The Champion 200990’s unique encased inverter generator design (L23.2 x W17.7 x H20.1) makes it look better than any other open-frame product. The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use.The generator is technically “portable” in the sense that you can move it, but at 101 pounds, it may be hard to move it by hand. But its two wheels (diameter: 5 in) make it easy to move around “Once it’s on the floor, it will be easier to move because of the handle that folds down.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Champion-200990 compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A US-based producer of power equipment, Champion Power Equipment was established in 2003.The comparatively tiny business has established a name for itself in the portable generator market as well as the larger power equipment market, with a concentration on heavy duty machinery like log cutters, snow blowers, chipper shredders, etc.Their whole product line is American-engineered.The corporation does not, however, disclose the country of origin of its parts.
There is a warranty on the Champion 200990 for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Champion’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Champion generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-877-338-0999.
