Description
The Champion 201185 has a 224-cc, 4-stroke, overhead valve (OHV) engine. It runs on gasoline and has a running wattage of 3,500W and a peak wattage of 4,250W. It gives off 120V. The device can also work in parallel (ParaLink is not included), which means it can be connected to a similar or compatible unit to get more power. The inverter generator has both a pull-start mechanism and an electric starter that is easy to use and convenient (battery included). It is said to make 64 dBA of noise (little noisier than an office setting). For even more convenience, you can also start the 201185 from a distance (key fob included). The 201185 can run for up to 22 hours on a full tank (using about 0.18 GPH of fuel), thanks to its 4 gallon fuel tank. The 201185 makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet.
Also, it has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A plug that looks like a cigarette lighter so you can easily charge your batteries.Since the unit comes with a dual port USB adapter, you can also use the DC receptacle to easily charge devices like cell phones and tablets. This Champion generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R (TT stands for “Travel Trailer”) plug.Features
The Intelligauge data center, which is part of the 201185’s control panel, is one of its many features.
It gives you information on the power output, frequency, voltage, and lifetime run hours, which lets you keep an eye on its activity and status. In addition to this info, when the oil level is too low, you will be informed by the featured light indicator. The inverter generator includes a built-in fuel gauge , a quick, easy and convenient method of checking the device’s gas level. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off when the oil level gets too low.The unit also has CO ShieldTM technology, which keeps an eye on the amount of poisonous carbon monoxide (CO) gas that builds up in the generator when the engine is running.CO ShieldTM automatically turns off the engine and lights up a red LED if it finds high levels of CO gas. It’s a welcomed additional security feature, but don’t forget to always take your generator outside. The Champion 201185 comes with some accessories, such as oil, a key fob, a funnel, and a USB adapter with two ports. It also comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual, which make it easy to start the generator.Mobility
The Champion 201185 has a standard, open frame that measures L27.9 x W23.4 x H21.7 in, This frame gives it support and lets it be raised above the ground.
The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. The 201185’s dry weight of 90 pounds lets you take it anywhere you need to.With its wheel kit (diameter: 8 “Once it’s on the floor, it’s easy to move because of the wheels and the handle that folds up.Product Videos

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A US-based producer of power equipment, Champion Power Equipment was established in 2003.
The comparatively tiny business has established a name for itself in the portable generator market as well as the larger power equipment market, with a concentration on heavy duty machinery like log cutters, snow blowers, chipper shredders, etc.Their whole product line is American-engineered.The corporation does not, however, disclose the country of origin of its parts.Warranty Information
There is a warranty on the Champion 201185 for up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Champion’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Champion generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-877-338-0999.
