The DuroMax XP13000HXT delivers 120/240V and benefits from a tri-fuel technology that allows it to run on gasoline, propane, or natural gas. When gasoline-powered, it enjoys a running wattage of 10,500W and a peak wattage of 13,000W. When propane-powered, it benefits from 9500 rated watts and 12000 peak watts. Its natural gas operation offers 8,500W of rated wattage and 10,000W of starting wattage. At a noise rating of 74 dBA (A tad noisier than a vacuum cleaner), this generator can be started via a simple traditional pull-start mechanism, or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included) (battery included). The XP13000HXT can also be remotely started , offering further convenience (key fob included) (key fob included). With a fuel capacity of 8.3 gallons, the XP13000HXT can operate for around 8.5 hours at 0.5 load using gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.98 GPH), or for around 3.2 hours (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 1.47 GPH) using propane. The quite high THD (<12%) of the XP13000HXT makes it unsuitable for powering sensitive electronic devices.
The control panel has 7 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle.Even though this DuroMax generator isn’t quite RV Ready, an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter makes it easy to connect it to an RV.Also, the XP13000HXT is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. It is easy to connect to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.
The data center on the control panel of the XP13000HXT is one of its many features. It tells you the voltage, power output, lifetime run hours, frequency, and fuel level, so you can easily keep track of its activity and status.Along with this information, a light lets you know right away if the oil level is too low.For safety, the generator has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying. The XP13000HXT also has the CO Alert carbon monoxide shut-off feature from DuroMax.If CO levels get too high too quickly, the generator will shut down automatically, a red light will come on, and the engine won’t start again for 5 minutes. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The DuroMax XP13000HXT comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away.It also comes with a tool kit, a propane hose, a key fob, a funnel, and a natural gas hose with an NPT adapter.
The DuroMax XP13000HXT has a standard, open frame that is 30 inches long, 29 inches wide, and 26 inches high. This frame gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. The design works well in rough places and for hard outdoor use.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 240 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools.Still, the generator is easy to move once it’s on the ground, thanks to its wheel kit and folding handle, which is a good way to make up for its lack of maneuverability.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the DuroMax-XP13000HXT compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Duromax is a small company in the United States that makes power tools. Its headquarters are in Ontario, California.Duromax makes pumps, engines, pressure washers, and, most importantly, power generators. In this way, the company only makes portable generators and devices that can use both gas and electricity as fuel. The generators made by Duromax are designed and serviced in the US, but their production is done in other countries.Since its start in 2003, DuroMax is becoming known as a major player in the market for power generators.
The warranty for the DuroMax XP13000HXT lasts for up to 5 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out DuroMax’s warranty policies if you want to know more about the warranty on DuroMax generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-844-DUROMAX (844-387-6629).
