Description
The 440 cc (18 hp) OHV 4-stroke engine of the DuroStar DS10000E runs on gasoline and can put out 120/240V. It has a running power of 8,000W and a maximum power of 10,000W. The generator can make up to 72 dBA of noise (slightly noisier than running a dishwasher It has both a traditional pull-start mechanism and a simple but elegant electric starter (battery included). With a full tank, the DS10000E can run for about 10 hours at 0.5 load thanks to its 8.3-gallon fuel capacity (fuel consumption is approximately 0.83 GPH). The DS10000E can’t be used to power sensitive electronics because its THD is quite high (12%).
Outlets
The control panel has 5 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI outlet, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) outlet, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) outlet.
It also has 1 DC outlet with a 12V 8A output that makes it easy to charge your batteries.Since it has a 14-50R outlet, this DuroStar unit is ready for an RV with a 50-amp service if you have an RV with 50-amp service. With an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor, its L5-30R plug can also be used to connect a simple RV.The DS10000E is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. It is easy to connect to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.Features
The DS10000E’s control panel has a handy voltmeter that lets you check the power output at any time.
This is helpful for keeping track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, a light shows you if there isn’t enough oil.The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it.As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The DuroStar DS10000E comes with the standard paperwork and an owner’s manual, which will help you get started quickly. It also comes with a funnel, battery charging cables, and a tool kit.You can also buy a storage cover that is made by the company.Mobility
The DuroStar DS10000E has a traditional, open frame design with dimensions of L29 x W30 x H26 in, This gives the generator stability and lets it be raised above ground level.
The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 218 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools.Once it is on the ground, it can still be moved easily with the help of its wheels and folding handle.Product Videos
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the DuroStar-DS10000E compare to other generators with the same power output.
**Fuel efficiency is give in relative percentage, 0 being the lowest and 1 being the highest value. Please see below specification table for actual value.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Ontario, California-based business DuroMax, which was established in 2003, is the owner of the DuroStar name.
Typically, DuroStar generators and DuroMax generators are identical, with the exception of their color schemes and the manufacturing facility.Although DuroStar engines and generators are made in China, the US is home to the design and servicing centers.Warranty Information
The warranty for the DuroStar DS10000E lasts for up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out DuroStar’s (DuroMax’s) warranty policies to learn more about the warranty on DuroStar generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-844-DUROMAX (844-387-6629).
