The Ford FG4050P is made with a gasoline-powered Ducar OHV 4-stroke engine with 208 cc and 7 hp. It has a 120V output and a running power of 3,000W and a peak power of 4,050W. This generator has a noise level of 76 dBA, which is less than a shower. It starts up with a traditional pull-start mechanism. The FG4050P can run for about 11 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank and 4 gallons of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 0.36 GPH).
The control panel has 5 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplex outlets and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle. The FG4050P is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
The FG4050P’s control panel has a digital data center that helps you keep track of its status and activity by telling you how many hours it has been running for.The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it.When it comes to safety, this product has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worry. The Ford FG4050P comes with oil, a funnel, and a tool kit, as well as the standard paperwork and an owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.
The Ford FG4050P is 28 inches long, 26 inches wide, and 22 inches high.It has a typical open frame design that makes it stable and lets the generator be raised off the ground. The design works well in rough places and for hard outdoor use.Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it is very hard to move by hand because it weighs 108.7 pounds.Still, because of its wheel kit (dia:8 “Once the generator is on the ground, it is easy to move thanks to its wheels and folding handle, which make up for its lack of maneuverability.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Ford-FG4050P compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Ford is mostly associated with Henry Ford’s Ford Motor Company, a storied US automobile company established in 1903, but its trademark can also be seen on a variety of other products, including power equipment.Affordable portable generators, water pumps, and pressure washers are available at Ford Power Equipment.Although they are manufactured and supplied by Pulsar Inc., which has a manufacturing facility in Asia, generators are actually licensed under the Ford trademark. The business does, however, guarantee excellent customer service and pre-delivery testing, and customers generally give their products very positive evaluations.
We don’t know anything about the Ford FG4050P’s warranty right now.Ford’s customer service number is 1-866-591-8921 if you want to find out more about the warranty on a Ford generator.
