The Generac XT8000EFI has a 459 cc Generac 4-stroke engine that puts out 120/240V, runs on gasoline, and puts out 8,000W while running and 10,000W at its peak. This generator can be started with a pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). The Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system makes the engine more reliable, uses less fuel, starts better, needs less maintenance, works better with stale fuel, and works better at higher altitudes. With an 8-gallon fuel tank, the XT8000EFI could run for about 9.5 hours at 0.5 load if the tank is full (fuel consumption is approximately 0.84 GPH). As the XT8000EFI makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 5%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are among the 5 AC outlets on the control panel. The XT8000EFI is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
The XT8000EFI’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you how many hours it has run over its lifetime. This helps you keep track of its activity and status. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it.In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). The Generac XT8000EFI comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with oil, a funnel, a tool kit, and a battery charger.
The Generac XT8000EFI is made with a typical open frame that measures L31.8 x W24.7 x H27.1 in, This frame gives the generator support and stability and lets you raise it above ground level. The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it can be hard to move and use it without special tools because it weighs 216.1 pounds. But its wheel kit (dia:10) makes up for the fact that it is hard to move around “) and a folding handle that makes it easy to move once it’s on the ground.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Generac-7162-XT8000EFI compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Founded in 1959, Generac Power Systems is an American manufacturer of power tools and generators.Generac’s primary business is, as its name implies, the manufacture of power generators as well as other electrically related products like switches, paralleling systems, and tiny engines. The corporation has multiple US-based production facilities, thus its goods are produced there. The company, however, doesn’t disclose where the components they use were made.
A warranty covers the Generac XT8000EFI for up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
