The Generac RS8000E is made with a 420 cc OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline. It has an output voltage of 120/240V and a running wattage of 8,000W and a peak wattage of 10,000W. This generator has both a pull-start and an electric starter that is simple and elegant (battery included). It has Generac’s PowerDialTM, which is an easy-to-use dial with three settings for how the generator works. With a full tank, the RS8000E can run for about 10.5 hours at 0.5 load on its 7.5-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.71 GPH).
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplex outlets and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are on the control panel. The RS8000E is ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can connect it to a breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
The RS8000E’s control panel has a digital data center that helps you keep track of its status and activity by giving you information about how long it has been running. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it.As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Generac RS8000E comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away.It also comes with oil, a battery charger, and an extension cord.
The Generac RS8000E has a standard, open frame that is 30 in, long, 27.1 in, wide, and 25.7 in, high. This gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use.Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it weighs 213.8 pounds, which makes it very hard to move by hand.Still, once it’s on the ground, its wheel kit (dia:9.5 “), and its folding handle can easily fix the problem of limited mobility and make the device easy to move.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Generac-RS8000E compare to other generators with the same power output.
**Fuel efficiency is give in relative percentage, 0 being the lowest and 1 being the highest value. Please see below specification table for actual value.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Founded in 1959, Generac Power Systems is an American manufacturer of power tools and generators.Generac’s primary business is, as its name implies, the manufacture of power generators as well as other electrically related products like switches, paralleling systems, and tiny engines. The corporation has multiple US-based production facilities, thus its goods are produced there. The company, however, doesn’t disclose where the components they use were made.
The warranty for the Generac RS8000E lasts for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Generac’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long generators are covered by warranty. You can also call their customer service line at 1-888-GENERAC (888-436-3722).
