Description
The engine of the Honda EU3000iS is a 196cc Honda GX200 OHV 4-stroke that runs on gasoline and can put out 120V. It has a running power of 2,800W and a maximum power of 3,000W. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with parallel cables from Honda), this power can be doubled by connecting it to another unit that works with it. The inverter generator has a very low noise rating of 50 dBA, which is about as loud as a conversation at home. It is on our list of the 10 quietest portable generators because it can be started with a simple pull-start or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). Because it can hold 3.4 gallons of fuel, the EU3000iS can run for up to 20 hours on a full tank (it uses about 0.17 GPH). The EU3000iS makes a clean sine wave. Its Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) is less than 3%, so you can safely plug sensitive electronics into its AC outlets.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
