Description
The Powerhorse 13000ES is made with an OHV 4-stroke engine that is 622 cc and runs on gasoline. It has an output voltage of 120/240V and a running wattage of 10,000W and a peak wattage of 13,000W. This generator has a noise level of 77 dBA, which is quieter than a vacuum cleaner. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism, but it also has an easy-to-use electric starter (battery not included). With a full tank, the 13000ES can run for about 15 hours at 0.5 load, which is about 0.84 GPH (gallon per hour), because it can hold 12.6 gallons of fuel. The 13000ES makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of 5%, so it is safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The control panel has 7 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplexes, one 120V 30A (L5-30R), one 120/240V 30A (L14-30R), and one 120/240V 50A (14-50R).
It also has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 8A receptacle that looks like a cigarette lighter. This makes it easy to charge your batteries. This Powerhorse generator isn’t quite RV Ready, but it has an L5-30R receptacle that makes it easy to connect to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adapter. The 13000ES is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.Features
The 13000ES’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you the lifetime run hours and voltage.
This helps you keep track of how it is working and what its status is.The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. For safety, the generator has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worrying.Powerhorse included a tool kit with the 13000ES, along with the usual paperwork and owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.Mobility
The Powerhorse 13000ES has a typical open frame that measures L33.5 x W24.4 x H25.6 in, This gives it support and stability and lets it be raised above ground level.
This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use.Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it weighs 324 pounds, which makes it very hard to move by hand. But its wheel kit and folding handle make it easy to move once it’s on the ground, which makes up for its lack of maneuverability.Product Videos
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Powerhorse-13000ES compare to other generators with the same power output.
**Fuel efficiency is give in relative percentage, 0 being the lowest and 1 being the highest value. Please see below specification table for actual value.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
