The Pulsar G12KBN’s dual-fuel technology lets it put out 120/240V and gives it a lot of power and flexibility. If the device is powered by gasoline, it has a running power of 9,500W and a starting power of 12,000W. If it runs on propane, it has a rated power of 8550 watts and a starting power of 10800 watts. The noise level of this generator is 74 dBA, which is just a little louder than a shower. It can be started with a pull-start mechanism or an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). With an 8-gallon fuel capacity, the G12KBN can run for about 12 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (around 0.67 GPH), or about 5 hours on propane (estimation based on a 20-lb tank; propane uses about 0.94 GPH).
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplex outlets, a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 50A (14-50R) receptacle are all on the control panel. It also has 1 DC outlet with a 12V 8A output that makes it easy to charge your batteries.Since it has a 14-50R outlet, this Pulsar unit is ready for an RV with a 50-amp service if you have an RV with 50-amp service. The G12KBN also has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. It is easy to connect to a breaker box and can power your home if the power goes out.
On the control panel of the G12KBN is a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. This makes it easier to keep track of its status and activity.Along with this information, a light lets you know right away if the oil level is too low.The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in the machine. When it comes to safety, this product has an automatic low oil shut-off and an overload protection (circuit breaker), so you can use it without worry. The Pulsar G12KBN comes with a tool kit, a funnel, and a propane hose, as well as the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual to get you up and running quickly.
The Pulsar G12KBN has a standard, open frame that measures L28.5 x W21.8 x H22.2 in, This gives it support and lets it be lifted off the ground. This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use.The generator weighs 209 pounds, so it may be hard to move or transport it by hand, even though it is technically considered “portable” (movable).Still, its wheel kit (dia:10 “) and its handle that folds up, once it’s on the ground.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Pulsar-G12KBN compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Pulsar is a registered brand name for Pulsar Products Inc., which is based in California, USA.The company has a good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and, of course, generators. The generators range from 1.2 kW to 10 kW and come in dual fuel and RV-Ready models.Pulsar has a number of locations in the US, including two distribution centers, one in California and the other in Illinois. But it looks like their products are made in Asia, which is far away from where they are sold.
A warranty covers the Pulsar G12KBN for up to a year. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
