The heart of the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is a gasoline-powered 145 cc Ducar OHV 4-stroke engine. It has a 120V output and a running power of 3,200W and a peak power of 4,000W. Also, since it can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), this power can be increased by connecting it to another unit that works with it. This inverter generator has a noise level of 59 dBA, which is less than a refrigerator. It starts up with a traditional pull-start mechanism. With a full tank, the PGD40iSCO can run for about 4.5 hours at 0.5 load with a fuel capacity of 1 gallon (fuel consumption is approximately 0.22 GPH). The PGD40iSCO makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet. This Pulsar generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug.TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.
The lights on the device will show if the generator is ready, if it doesn’t have enough oil, or if it is overloaded. From a safety point of view, the product has a circuit breaker for overload protection and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The unit also works well because Pulsar’s CO Sentry can detect carbon monoxide. The sensor checks to see if poisonous carbon monoxide gas is building up around the generator, and if it is, it turns off the engine. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. In addition to the features we’ve already talked about, the Pulsar PGD40iSCO comes with standard documentation and an owner’s manual to help you get started right away.
Since the Pulsar PGD40iSCO is an inverter generator, its enclosed design (L18.9 x W11.4 x H17.3 in) looks better than a traditional open frame product. The design shown here is in line with the latest trends and is great for easy and fun use.The PGD40iSCO, which is called a lightweight portable generator, weighs only 46 lbs.The power of the product can be used on the go, since it is easy for one person to move. The case is also made with a handle that makes it easy to carry and adds to its convenience.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Pulsar-PGD40iSCO compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and of course generators are available from Pulsar Products Inc., a firm situated in California, USA.Their models vary from 1,2 kW to 10 kW and include dual fuel and RV-Ready designs. The US is home to a number of Pulsar facilities, including two distribution centers, one in Illinois and one in California. However, it appears that Asia is where they outsource the production of their goods.
There is a warranty on the Pulsar PGD40iSCO for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
