The WEN 56203i has a 79cc OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline, puts out 120V, and has a running power of 1,700W and a peak power of 2,000W. The generator can also be connected to a second unit for more power (the WEN Parallel Connection Kit is not included). This unit has a low noise rating of 51 dBA, which is just a little louder than a refrigerator. Because of this, we put it on our list of the 10 quietest portable generators. It starts with a simple pull-start. With a full tank, the 56203i can run for up to 10.8 hours (using about 0.09 GPH of fuel), because it can hold 1 gallon of fuel. The 56203i makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of 1.2%, so it is safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
