Description
The WEN DF450i has 120V and a lot of power and versatility thanks to its dual-fuel technology. When powered by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 3,500W and a maximum wattage of 4,500W. When powered by propane, it has a rated 3150 watts and a peak of 4500 watts. Also, the device can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), so it can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for more power. With WEN’s Auto Fuel Selection technology, the fuel source (LPG or gasoline) is chosen automatically based on availability, with LPG being given priority. So, if the generator is hooked up to a propane tank with enough LPG, the generator will automatically use LPG. If there is no propane tank attached or not enough LPG in the tank, the generator will use gasoline. This inverter generator has a noise level of 58 dBA, which is less than a refrigerator. It starts up with a traditional pull-start mechanism. With a fuel capacity of 2.2 gallons, the DF450i can run for about 8.5 hours at 0.5 load with a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.26 GPH). If propane is used, it can run for about 9 hours (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.52 GPH). Since the DF450i makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 1.2%, you can safely plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
Outlets
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets for: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R); 120V 30A (TT-30R) receptacle.
It also has 3 DC outlets: a 12V 8A receptacle (like a cigarette lighter) that makes it easy to charge your batteries, and two 5V USB ports (USB-A) that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets. This WEN generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug.TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.Features
The DF450i’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you things like the power output, lifetime run hours, voltage, frequency, and fuel level.
This helps you keep track of its activity and status. In addition, the lights tell you if the oil level is too low, if the generator is ready, and if it is overloaded. The fuel shutoff feature stops the flow of fuel, which lets the DF450i use up the last of the fuel in the carburetor before turning off automatically. This helps prevent the buildup and blockages that can happen when fuel sits in the carburetor for too long. This makes the unit last longer and requires less maintenance. In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). The WEN DF450i comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a propane hose, a tool kit, and a funnel.Mobility
The encased inverter generator design of the WEN DF450i (L23.2 x W18 x H20.1 in) makes it look better than any ordinary open frame product.
The design fits with what’s popular now and is perfect for generating power for fun.Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it weighs 100 pounds, which makes it very hard to move by hand.Still, once it is on the ground, its two wheels and folding handle make it easy to move.Product Videos

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
Nick Anton started WEN Products, an American power tool manufacturer and distributor, in 1951.
WEN Products says that its research in random orbital technology contributed to the creation of current chainsaws, soldering tools, and wet sharpeners. The Illinois-based corporation increased the range of power tools that were available through its distribution network, including presses, drills, and of course, power generators.WEN is a distributor, and the majority of the products in its inventory are branded imports from Asian manufacturers.Warranty Information
The WEN DF450i has a warranty that lasts up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out WEN’s warranty policies to learn more about the warranty on their generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-847-429-9263.
