The Westinghouse iGen4500 has a 224 cc (7.3 hp) gasoline-powered Westinghouse OHV 4-stroke engine that can put out 120V. It has a running power of 3,700W and a maximum power of 4,500W. Also, since the generator can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel cord), it can be linked to a second unit for more power. This inverter generator has a noise level of 52 dBA, which is just a little louder than a conversation at home. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism or a simple and elegant electric starter (battery included). To make things even easier, the iGen4500 can be started from afar (key fob included). The iGen4500 can run for up to 18 hours on a full tank of fuel, which is 3.4 gallons (fuel consumption is approximately 0.19 GPH). The iGen4500 makes a clean sine wave. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 3%, you can safely plug your sensitive electronics into the AC outlets.
On the control panel, there are 3 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet and a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet. It also has 2 DC outlets: two 5V USB ports that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones or tablets. This Westinghouse generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug, which stands for “Travel Trailer”.
The iGen4500’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you about the voltage, power output, remaining run time, fuel level, and lifetime run hours. This helps you keep an eye on its activity and status. In addition to this information, the device’s light indicator will show if the generator is overloaded. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. The Westinghouse iGen4500 comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away.It also comes with a funnel, battery charger, key fob, oil, and a tool kit.You can also buy a separate cover for storing the chair.
Since the Westinghouse iGen4500 is an inverter generator, its enclosed design (L24.5 x W17.5 x H20 in) looks better than a traditional open frame product. The goal of this modern design is to give recreational users the best way to get power.Even though this generator is technically “portable” in the sense that it can be moved, it is very hard to move by hand because it weighs 104.7 pounds. But the lack of maneuverability is made up for by its two wheels (5.5″ diameter) and telescopic handle, which make it easy to move once it’s on the ground.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Westinghouse-iGen4500 compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Westinghouse Electric Corporation was established in 1886, and its heritage business, Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment, is situated in the US.The Westinghouse name continues to be the brand name for many of its electrical solutions, which range throughout the scale from power plants to portable generators, despite the fact that the firm has been acquired and integrated into the American CBS.The primary product of Westinghouse’s Outdoor Power Equipment division, portable generators were previously produced by Westpro Power Systems, which Midwest Equipment acquired in 2016.Under the Westinghouse brand, lawn tools including trimmers and blowers are also offered for sale.Their entire line of items is American-designed.However, according to a number of sites, they are frequently made in China.
There is a warranty on the Westinghouse iGen4500 for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out Westinghouse’s warranty policies if you want to know more about the warranty on Westinghouse generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-855-944-3571.
