Description
The Champion 100231’s dual-fuel technology lets it put out 120/240V and gives it a lot of power and versatility. If it is powered by gasoline, the device has a running power of 5,500W and a starting power of 6,900W. If it runs on propane, it has a rated power of 5000 watts and a starting power of 6250 watts. The noise level of the generator is 74 dBA, which is just a little louder than a dishwasher. It has a traditional pull-start mechanism. With a fuel capacity of 6 gallons, the 100231 can run for about 9 hours at 0.5 load on gasoline (using about 0.67 GPH), or about 6.5 hours on a 20-pound propane tank (using about 0.72 GPH). Due to its high THD (20%), the 100231 is not a good choice for powering sensitive electronic devices.
Outlets
Two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle are among the 5 AC outlets on the control panel.
The 100231 has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which means it is ready for a transfer switch. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.Features
On the 100231’s control panel, there is an Intelligauge meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours.
This lets you keep track of its status and activity. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries.Volt GuardTM, which is built into Champion, protects your equipment and appliances from voltage spikes. The Champion 100231 comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual to help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a propane hose and funnel, among other things.Mobility
The Champion 100231 has a typical open frame that measures L27 x W27.7 x H24.4 in, This gives it support and stability and gives you the option to raise it above the ground.
The design shown is great for the outdoors and other rough places. The generator is technically “portable” in the sense that you can move it, but at 162.5 pounds, it may be hard to move it by hand.Still, because of its wheel kit (dia:8 “Once the generator is on the ground, it is easy to move thanks to its wheels and folding handle, which make up for its lack of maneuverability.Product Videos

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A US-based producer of power equipment, Champion Power Equipment was established in 2003.
The comparatively tiny business has established a name for itself in the portable generator market as well as the larger power equipment market, with a concentration on heavy duty machinery like log cutters, snow blowers, chipper shredders, etc.Their whole product line is American-engineered.The corporation does not, however, disclose the country of origin of its parts.Warranty Information
There is a warranty on the Champion 100231 for up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Champion’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Champion generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-877-338-0999.
