Description
With its dual-fuel technology, the Champion 100402 gives you 120V, power, and a lot of options. When powered by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 1,600W and a peak wattage of 2,000W. When run on propane, it has a rated power of 1440 watts and a peak power of 1800 watts. Also, since the generator can work in parallel (but does not come with a ParaLINK parallel kit), it can be connected to a second unit to make more power. The pull-start mechanism on the inverter generator is simple and old-fashioned. It can make up to 53 dBA of noise (just slightly more noisy than a refrigerator). The EZ Start Dial on Champion makes it easy to start the engine and get to all the controls you need. With 1.1 gallons of gas, the 100402 can run for up to 11 hours (fuel consumption is approximately 0.1 GPH). It can run for up to 24 hours if propane is used (on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.2 GPH). With the Fuel Fill Assist LED, a clever LED built right into the handle, it is much easier to fill up the tank when there isn’t much light. By pushing a button, the LED can light up the area where the gas is filled. The 100402 makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of 3%, so it is safe to plug sensitive electronics into AC outlets (THD).
Outlets
The control panel has the following two AC outlets: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R).
It also has 1 DC outlet: a 12V 8A plug that looks like a cigarette lighter so you can easily charge your batteries.Since the unit comes with a dual port USB adapter, you can also use the DC receptacle to easily charge devices like cell phones and tablets.Features
The 100402’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you the lifetime run hours, fuel level, power output, and how much time is left to run.
This helps you keep track of its activity and status. In addition to this information, there are a number of lights that show when the oil level is too low, when the generator is overloaded, and when it is ready to use. When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. The Champion 100402 comes with basic instructions and an owner’s manual that will help you start the generator quickly. It also comes with a dual port USB adapter, a funnel, and a propane hose.Mobility
The Champion 100402 is an inverter generator with a case that is 20.5 in, long, 12.6 in, wide, and 16.9 in, high.
So, it looks better than most other products with open frames. The design fits with what’s popular now and is perfect for generating power for fun.The 100402 is called a lightweight portable generator because it only weighs 47.6 lbs.The generator is easy for one person to move, so it can be used anywhere. The handle built into the case makes it even easier to carry.Product Videos

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A US-based producer of power equipment, Champion Power Equipment was established in 2003.
The comparatively tiny business has established a name for itself in the portable generator market as well as the larger power equipment market, with a concentration on heavy duty machinery like log cutters, snow blowers, chipper shredders, etc.Their whole product line is American-engineered.The corporation does not, however, disclose the country of origin of its parts.Warranty Information
There is a warranty on the Champion 100402 for up to 3 years.
This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Champion’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Champion generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-877-338-0999.
