The Dewalt DXGN6000 is powered by a Honda GX340 OHV 4-stroke engine with 389 cc and 10.7 hp. It gives out 120/240V, runs on gasoline, and has a running wattage of 5,300W and a peak wattage of 6,000W. The generator has a simple pull-start mechanism that has been used for a long time. It has a noise level of 79 dBA (less noisy than a shower). The DXGN6000 can run for about 14 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank of 8 gallons of fuel (fuel consumption is approximately 0.57 GPH). Since the DXGN6000 has a THD of about 6%, it is not a good idea to use it to power sensitive electronics.
There are 6 AC outlets on the control panel: two 120V 20A (5-20R) GFCI duplexes, a 120V 30A (L5-30R) receptacle, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) receptacle.Even though this Dewalt generator isn’t quite RV Ready, its L5-30R receptacle makes it easy to connect to an RV with an L5-30P to TT-30R adaptor. Also, the DXGN6000 has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle, which makes it ready for a transfer switch. It can power your home during a power outage because it is easy to connect to your breaker box.
The DXGN6000’s control panel has a digital data center that tells you how many hours it has run in its lifetime. This helps you keep track of its activity and status. The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to find out how much gas is in it.In terms of safety, the generator can be used without worry because it has an automatic shut-off for low oil and an overload protection (circuit breaker). In addition to the features we’ve already talked about, the Dewalt DXGN6000 comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual, which will help you start your generator quickly.
The Dewalt DXGN6000 is 30.5 inches long, 21.3 inches wide, and 24.8 inches tall.It has a typical open frame design that makes it stable and allows it to be raised above ground level. The device was made to work well in harsh conditions and in the great outdoors. The generator is technically “portable” because it can be moved, but at 189 lbs., it may be hard to move it by hand.A lift hook on the top of the frame adds an extra safety measure when the device is being moved, unloaded, or loaded.
We could find any videos of the product at the time of writing. Please search YouTube for any update.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Dewalt-DXGN6000 compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
DeWalt is a well-known US-based manufacturer of power tools that was established in 1922 by Raymon DeWalt.DeWalt, a current subsidiary of the Stanley Black & Decker company, has 7 manufacturing locations in the US and a wide range of items to choose from, including everything from screwdrivers to portable generators. The portable generator series from DeWalt features open, traditional designs with a range of outputs, some of which are propelled by Honda engines. They are reportedly not all built in the US, unlike many of their tools, and are instead _manufactured under license by Generac_.
The warranty for the Dewalt DXGN6000 lasts for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out Dewalt’s warranty policies to learn more about the warranty on Dewalt generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-800-4-DEWALT (800-433-9258).
