The Honda EU1000i is made with a 49.4 cc Honda GXH50 OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline. It has a 120V output and a 900W running wattage and a 1,000W peak wattage. Also, the device can work in parallel (but does not come with parallel cables from Honda). This means that it can be connected to a similar or compatible device for more power. The pull-start mechanism on the inverter generator is simple and old-fashioned. It has a low noise rating of 42 dBA, which is just a little louder than bird calls. This puts it on our list of the ten quietest portable generators. With a full tank, the EU1000i can run for up to 6.8 hours on its 0.55-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.08 GPH). - We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
