A 54 cc OHV 4-stroke engine powers the Predator 1400. It has a 120V output, runs on gas, and has a running wattage of 1,100W and a peak wattage of 1,400W. Also, the device can work in parallel (but doesn’t come with a parallel kit), so it can be linked to a similar or compatible unit for more power. The noise level of the inverter generator is set at 60.4 dBA (little noisier than an office setting). It has a pull-start mechanism, which is a common way to start a motor. With a 0.74-gallon fuel tank, the 1400 can run for up to 7.3 hours on a full tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.1 GPH). Since the 1400 makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of 3%, it is safe to plug sensitive electronics into the AC outlets (THD).
The control panel has the following two AC outlets: Duplex 120V 20A (5-20R).It also has 3 DC outlets: two 5V USB ports that make it easy to charge devices like cell phones and tablets, and a 12V 5A receptacle that makes it easy to charge batteries.
Some lights let you know right away if the generator is overloaded, if it doesn’t have enough oil, or if it’s ready to go.When it comes to safety, this product has a circuit breaker for overheating and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without any worries. The Predator’s CO SECURETM carbon monoxide detector is also helpful for the unit. While the generator is running, this system checks how much CO gas is building up and turns off the engine if it gets too high. It’s a nice extra safety measure, but don’t forget to take your generator outside at all times. The Predator 1400 comes with standard paperwork and an owner’s manual that will help you get the device up and running quickly. It also comes with battery charging cables, a funnel, a tool kit, and oil.
The Predator 1400 is an inverter generator, so its closed design (L18.5 x W10.7 x H15.5 in) looks better than traditional devices with open frames. The design fits with what’s popular now and is perfect for generating power for fun.The 1400 is a portable lightweight generator because it only weighs 33 pounds. The power of the product can be used on the go, since it is easy for one person to move. The handle built into the case makes it even easier to carry.Good to know: This is the ninth smallest portable generator on our list.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Predator-1400-59186 compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
