The Pulsar G65BN is powerful and flexible, thanks to its dual-fuel technology that lets it run on both 120V and 240V. When powered by gasoline, it has a running wattage of 5,500W and a maximum wattage of 6,500W. When run on propane, it has a rated power of 4900 watts and a peak power of 5800 watts. The generator has a simple pull-start mechanism that has been used for a long time. It has a noise level of 73 dBA (A tad noisier than a vacuum cleaner). With a fuel capacity of 5.2 gallons, the G65BN can run for about 11.5 hours at 0.5 load on a full tank of gasoline (fuel consumption is approximately 0.45 GPH). With propane, it can last up to about 7 hours (estimation based on a 20 lbs tank – propane consumption around 0.67 GPH).
The control panel has 6 AC outlets: two 120V 20A (5-20R) duplexes, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) plug, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) plug.It also has 1 DC outlet with a 12V 8A output that makes it easy to charge batteries. This Pulsar generator is RV ready because it has a TT-30R plug.TT stands for “Travel Trailer”.The G65BN is also transfer switch ready because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. You can easily connect it to your breaker box to power your home when the power goes out.
The control center of the G65BN has a handy meter that shows voltage, frequency, and lifetime hours. This helps you keep track of its status and activity. In addition to this information, there is a light that lets you know when the oil level is too low.The generator has a built-in fuel gauge that makes it quick, easy, and convenient to check how much gas is in it.As far as safety goes, the device has an automatic shut-off for low oil and a circuit breaker for overheating, so you can use it without worrying. The Pulsar G65BN comes with the standard paperwork and an owner’s manual, which will help you get the device up and running quickly. It also comes with the following accessories: Kit with a propane hose and tools.
The Pulsar G65BN has a typical open frame that is L27 x W20 x H19 in, This gives it support and stability and gives you the option to raise it above ground level. This type of design is great for tough environments and heavy outdoor use.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it weighs 126 pounds and can be hard to move and use without special tools.Still, once it’s on the ground, its wheels and folding handle make it easy to move.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Pulsar-G65BN compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
A good selection of air compressors, pressure washers, and of course generators are available from Pulsar Products Inc., a firm situated in California, USA.Their models vary from 1,2 kW to 10 kW and include dual fuel and RV-Ready designs. The US is home to a number of Pulsar facilities, including two distribution centers, one in Illinois and one in California. However, it appears that Asia is where they outsource the production of their goods.
A warranty covers the Pulsar G65BN for up to a year. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Pulsar generators come with a warranty that you can learn more about by calling Pulsar Customer Support at 1-866-591-8921.
