The Westinghouse WGen5300DF’s dual-fuel technology lets it put out 120/240V and gives it a lot of power and flexibility. If it is powered by gasoline, the device has a running power of 5,300W and a starting power of 6,600W. If it runs on propane, it has a rated power of 4800 watts and a starting power of 5900 watts. This generator has a noise level of 68 dBA, which is quieter than background music. It can be started with a simple pull-start mechanism, but it also has an easy-to-use electric starter (battery included). The WGen5300DF can also be started from a distance, which makes it even more convenient (key fob included). With a fuel capacity of 4.7 gallons, the WGen5300DF can run on gasoline for up to 14.5 hours (using about 0.43 GPH), or on propane for about 9 hours (using about 0.52 GPH) on a 20-lb tank. The THD (23%) of the WGen5300DF is too high for it to be used to power sensitive electronic devices.
The control panel has 4 AC outlets: a duplex 120V 20A (5-20R) outlet, a 120V 30A (TT-30R) outlet, and a 120/240V 30A (L14-30R) outlet. This Westinghouse generator is ready for an RV because it has a TT-30R plug, which stands for “Travel Trailer”.The WGen5300DF is also ready for a transfer switch because it has a twist-lock L14-30R receptacle. If the power goes out, you can easily connect it to a breaker box and keep your home running.
A built-in fuel gauge makes it easy and quick to check how much gas is in the generator. From a safety point of view, the product has a circuit breaker for overload protection and an automatic shut-off for low oil, so you can use it without worry. The Westinghouse WGen5300DF comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , which lets you start it right away.It also comes with a battery charger, tool kit, oil, funnel, propane hose, and key fob.
The standard, open frame design of the Westinghouse WGen5300DF, which is L23.4 x W20.6 x H19.5 in, gives the generator stability and lets it be raised above ground level. The generator is built to work well outside and in rough places.Even though this device is technically portable (meaning it can be moved), it can be hard to move and use without special tools because it weighs 135.6 pounds. To make the generator easier to move around, you might want to buy an official wheel kit.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Westinghouse-WGen5300DF compare to other generators with the same power output.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Westinghouse Electric Corporation was established in 1886, and its heritage business, Westinghouse Outdoor Power Equipment, is situated in the US.The Westinghouse name continues to be the brand name for many of its electrical solutions, which range throughout the scale from power plants to portable generators, despite the fact that the firm has been acquired and integrated into the American CBS.The primary product of Westinghouse’s Outdoor Power Equipment division, portable generators were previously produced by Westpro Power Systems, which Midwest Equipment acquired in 2016.Under the Westinghouse brand, lawn tools including trimmers and blowers are also offered for sale.Their entire line of items is American-designed.However, according to a number of sites, they are frequently made in China.
There is a warranty on the Westinghouse WGen5300DF for up to 3 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Check out Westinghouse’s warranty policies if you want to know more about the warranty on Westinghouse generators. You can also call their customer service line at 1-855-944-3571.
