The Yamaha EF1000iS has a 50cc Yamaha MZ50 OHV 4-stroke engine that runs on gasoline and puts out 120V and 900W while running and 1,000W at its most powerful. This inverter generator has a noise level of 47 dBA, which is less than a library. It starts up with a simple pull-start mechanism. Yamaha’s Smart ThrottleTM is built into this generator. This load-sensing feature automatically changes the speed of the engine to match how much it is being used. This saves fuel and reduces noise. With a full tank, the EF1000iS can run for up to 11.9 hours on its 0.66-gallon fuel tank (fuel consumption is approximately 0.06 GPH). The EF1000iS makes a clean sine wave with a Total Harmonic Distortion of 2.5%, so it’s safe to plug sensitive electronics into an AC outlet (THD).
The control panel has two AC outlets: a duplex 120V 15A outlet and a single 120V 15A outlet (5-15R).Also, it has 1 DC outlet, which is a 12V 8A receptacle that makes it easy to charge your batteries.
There are some lights that let you know right away if the generator is ready, if it is overloaded, or if the oil level is too low.For safety, the generator has an automatic low oil shut-off (Oil Watch system) and an overload protection (circuit breaker), which lets you use it without worrying. The Oil Watch warning system from Yamaha gives you more peace of mind. This feature makes the car last longer because it keeps the engine from getting damaged and needing expensive repairs. When the oil gets low, the generator turns off by itself and won’t start again until more oil is added. In addition to the features we’ve already talked about, the Yamaha EF1000iS comes with the usual paperwork and an owner’s manual , so you can use it right away.
As the Yamaha EF1000iS is an inverter generator, its encased design (L17.7 x W9.4 x H14.9 in) offers more aesthetics than a conventional, open frame product. The design fits with what’s popular now and is perfect for generating power for fun.The EF1000iS is called a lightweight portable generator because it only weighs 27.9 lbs.The generator is easy for one person to move, so it can be used anywhere. It can also be carried easily thanks to a handle that is built into the case. This makes it even more convenient.
The following charts show how some of the most important features of the Yamaha-EF1000iS compare to other generators with the same power output.
**Fuel efficiency is give in relative percentage, 0 being the lowest and 1 being the highest value. Please see below specification table for actual value.

- We compared more than 500 portable generators at 50% load. We found that there is “skewed right” distribution for the difference between 50% load and 25% load and the median comes at 1.43. With this number we converter all the 25% load runtime to 50% load. Same with the propane efficiency, where median is 1.38.
- For some generators where propane runtime was not given, we used NIST 1994 GGE (Gasoline Gallon Equivalent) formula: 5.66 lbs. of propane = 1 gal of gasoline. All propane runtime is for 20 lbs. propane tank (4.7 gallons).
- Unlike many other sites, we actually tried to find out information about each of the above requirements. However, we are human and are therefore capable of the odd oversight or mistake. Please let us know if you spot any missing or erroneous values so that we can fix them.
About the Manufacturer
The Japanese-based Yamaha Corporation, established in 1887, has a lengthy history spanning more than 130 years and has a hand in just about every sector imaginable, most notably motorbikes, musical instruments, and electronics. Many of the best portable generators are among the company’s diverse offering of goods. Many of the more recent versions, it has been said, are built in China rather than Japan.
A warranty covers the Yamaha EF1000iS for up to 2 years. This warranty may not cover all parts of the generator or may only cover certain parts.Yamaha’s warranty policies can tell you more about how long the warranty on a Yamaha generator lasts. You can also call their customer service line at 1-800-962-7926.
